Suzanne Adely

Organization: Food Chain Workers Alliance

Suzanne is the daughter of Arab immigrant workers, a former public school teacher, and a long-time Arab community organizer, with a background in international labor organizing and global human rights. For the past seven years, she has worked with the Food Chain Workers Alliance (FCWA), a movement of over 30 worker-based organizations focused on building the infrastructure of the food worker movement, to increase organized worker density in the food economy while advancing broader movements for justice. She plans to transition out of her role as co-director in 2025 to make room for new leadership.

Prior to joining FCWA, Suzanne spent several years supporting a worker-led union campaign in South India, through a Global Law & Organizing Fellowship. She has worked on several global solidarity campaigns advancing worker and human rights in various capacities and has had the privilege to engage with and learn from grassroots movements for political, economic, and food sovereignty worldwide. Suzanne is a movement lawyer and served as president of the National Lawyers Guild from 2019-24. She has been blessed with radical and revolutionary mentors here and abroad, who introduced her to using law as a tool to defend and support the advancement of people’s struggles for liberation challenging global capitalist, imperialist power.

Suzanne is a member of the National Coordinating Committee of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network and a co-convener of Labor for Palestine. In the past year, she has organized to bring attention to the genocide, siege, and forced starvation of the people of Gaza through various initiatives, including a November 2023 delegation to Egypt attempting to reach the Rafah border and as a passenger of the Freedom Flotilla in Spring 2024, which still has not been able to sail.
